Drone photo illustrating: Drone Delivery Route Feasibility Checklist

Drone Delivery Route Feasibility Checklist

A practical checklist for testing whether a delivery route or service area can work before you sign a contract.

Airspace

Check controlled airspace, airports and heliports, temporary flight restrictions, stadiums and critical infrastructure along the route. Ask the supplier how they will obtain any required authorisations and how long that typically takes.

Ground risk and delivery points

Map population density under the flight path, roads, schools and crowds. Confirm each delivery point has a safe, clear drop or lowering area, and plan for gates, trees, power lines and pets.

Weather and reliability

Review local wind, rain, heat and visibility patterns. Ask for expected completion rates by season and what fallback (courier, van) covers missed flights.

Operations

Where will aircraft launch, charge and be stored? Who loads packages? What are the staffing, security and noise considerations at the hub? Plan community engagement early, especially for residential routes.
